Design Specification

Aesthetics - as we wrote in our criteria A our design news to go with the fashion trends & also match many styles, this is a key point for my customer to actually like it and want to wear it. we will make different types of jewelry with fun colors to match people’s personalities. As we found out in our target audience primary and secondary research our clients have a very unique and fun sense of styles, they love wearing bold and bright colors like blue-yellow, and red, therefore, we will make the jewelry incorporate their fun personality by using these colors. 

 

Cost- our designs will need to be affordable but still have a good quality so it's worth the money, it will cost around £3-15

 

Environment- Our products can be considered environmentally friendly but not at the same time. We will be using certain materials that cannot be reused. Our products are jewelry pieces. We just expect our target audience to enjoy our products. 

 

Size- The size of our three product designs is small because they are homemade jewelry. They are simple but effective. We have put our measurements in our annotations as examples of the size of our products. 

 

Function- The main goal of our company is for teens to enjoy our jewelry and be able to express them through the choices of what they decide to wear and what they feel the jewelry represents. 

 

Materials -our product needs to be as good for the environment as possible but also not a material that will harm our clients. In this case, I will be using steel wire, plastic, and resin. We choose these materials because in our criteria A we did some material testing and we found out that the plastic wire is actually very resistant and my client really likes the look of it. 

 

Production - My design can be mass manufactured.

 

Testing -we will test our final product by letting my aimed clientele wear it for a couple of days to see if they like it and it matches their style.

We will also give my aimed clientele prototypes as we go along so we can get feedback on our models.

 

Target market- For this, we are aiming for a more specific clientele instead of a singular person, in our case the aimed clientele is teenagers. But our product could also be used by people in their 20s or younger than 13.

 

Quality- This needs to have a good quality that will last a long time, to test this we will get people to wear it and see how well our product is after.  

 

Health and safety- Our aimed clientele could be allergic to some metals so for health & safety we will use a wider range of healthier materials

 

Manufacturing- For this project, we will probably need a lot of time to create each piece as they use small beads and knots

Our poster design for product 2 is fun, colorful, and easy to understand. 

We feel we have put emphasis on the pink in our design, our design is good enough to start being manufactured, and have looked over the design specifications list, ticking whatever fitted in the criteria.

Reflection

Which idea will your group develop and why?

Eli Weinman, Gabi Martins and Maya Hobballah.

 

 We will be developing different ideas that we have sketched out.

 

For example, in the idea, drawing/sketch of the two key earrings and the red plastic beads bracelet with Fatima's hand is already made and was sketched out after production.

 

We are confident in our timings, our ideas, and our goal in making aesthetic jewelry for teens to enjoy. We don't feel we need to do any more research to complete our designs.

 

Our main goal links all of our designs together. We have a lot of material and have already started creating some of our ideas into products.

 

The school can indeed provide means to produce our products. As well as the 20$ budget provided to us to spend on materials. We have also taken the initiative to buy products with our own money to start production before anyone else.

 

We have gained enough knowledge to know how to make our own products based on the materials we will be using. We have read, researched, and learned about what we want to do with our designs and where we want to take our company.

 

Yes, we have also gotten the resources ourselves. We have ordered them online and have used materials that we found at home from when we were younger. We are in a way recycling some materials that lay around in the house, such as safety pins, etc.

 

We are fully capable of making our designs in time as we have already started. The designs we will be showcasing are either already created or in the process of being created.

 

We are still developing and finishing a few designs; but we are if ever asked, prepared to bring our products to be showcased at any given moment in time.
